Here is a picture of the Wind Muff I made for
the Zoom H2. It's not as nice as one of the "zeppelin" like windshields
that actually puts an air barrier between the mic and the outside world, but
it does make usable recordings. In very heavy winds I still need to roll
off the extreme low frequencies out of my recordings while editing the
files. However considering this costs less than $10 for the fabric needed,
it works pretty well. In the picture below the wind was almost blowing over
the short tripod, and the recording came out fine. When time allows I may
post a short sample of the audio.
This is taken while I was making an ambiance recording of
the Muni Parking Lot in Cleveland, Ohio. For the show "10 More Minutes from
Cleveland" for Dobama Theatre.
